Tobermory 2012

Back in the summer of 2012 my wife and I went up to explore Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula. If you have been there, then you know the beauty and stunning landscape that surrounds you everywhere you look. If you haven't been, put it on your list of places to go. We stayed at Cypress Lake Campground, the Bruce Trail was only a 10 minute walk from our campsite. The campgrounds and trail sites book up fast so book well in advance. If you are thinking of hiking and camping the trail, the best guide to buy is the Bruce Trail Reference Guide

A hay bale? I know, however when you leave London to head to Tobermory you will drive past hours of Ontario farmland. A relaxing start to the trip.

Head down to the water and you are welcomed by the rocks and the crystal clear water the area is known for.

If you haven't noticed I like the details.

A former house.

Former tree skin.

Circle of life.

It really is hard to grasp how unique the area is. You will see crystal clear water from looming cliffs.

Almost like a painting.

Frequency.

After hiking the coast we went and took the boat over to Flowerpot Island. You can take a glass bottom boat on the way over that will stop and give you a chance to see one of the many shipwrecks in the region. Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours at Flowerpot island, it is a really unique place. If wreck diving is your thing, be sure to bring your gear...and a thick wetsuit.

The 'flowerpots' formed by erosion over ... well I am not sure how long, but I am pretty sure it has been a while.

We heard about the Lookout Tower and decided we would go and take a look. It is a 20M tower that gets you up above the trees and in a position to see way off in the distance. I'd say one of the best places in Ontario to catch a sunset.

The dogs were out.

Catch of the day.

Got that sinking feeling?

Always wait for the encore.

Until next time.
