Back in the summer of 2012 my wife and I went up to explore Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula. If you have been there, then you know the beauty and stunning landscape that surrounds you everywhere you look. If you haven't been, put it on your list of places to go. We stayed at Cypress Lake Campground, the Bruce Trail was only a 10 minute walk from our campsite. The campgrounds and trail sites book up fast so book well in advance. If you are thinking of hiking and camping the trail, the best guide to buy is the Bruce Trail Reference Guide.
After hiking the coast we went and took the boat over to Flowerpot Island. You can take a glass bottom boat on the way over that will stop and give you a chance to see one of the many shipwrecks in the region. Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours at Flowerpot island, it is a really unique place. If wreck diving is your thing, be sure to bring your gear...and a thick wetsuit.
We heard about the Lookout Tower and decided we would go and take a look. It is a 20M tower that gets you up above the trees and in a position to see way off in the distance. I'd say one of the best places in Ontario to catch a sunset.
Until next time.
